The American Academy of Environmental Engineers wishes to convey its heartfelt grief over the tremendous loss of life and livelihood in Haiti. The Academy also expresses condolences to the Haitian people, the Haitian Government, and citizens of the United States and other countries in Haiti who have lost loved ones, and those who are currently suffering there. AAEE hails and supports the efforts of the thousands of volunteers and ground forces who have converged in Haiti to abate the unprecedented misery and continued loss of life as rapidly as possible. In the interim, AAEE encourages all its members to donate to their well-established charities of choice. It is possible that members of AAEE will have opportunities to contribute their time and expertise when the situation in Haiti calls for it. The Academy encourages its members to stand at the ready for these opportunities.
